its always lovely to get out for a weekend roadtrip (insert repetitive plays of 'seventh tree' here) but even better when you know it will be filled with loads of shopping & fancy dinners. & since i'll be visiting shops that i normally dont get to pop into around where i live - ive made myself a little wishlist of the things i couldnt possibly come back home without.
does anyone have any other AA suggestions of things i should be sure to check out? any faourites?
although the tiny diamond has long been missing, the gold plating has rubbed off a bit & the fact that because it is nearly five sizes too big i had to resort to wrapping tape around the band enough times so it would actually stay put on my finger - it is still my most favourite & loved piece of jewellery.
maybe its because i like to think it could have been art deco in another life, maybe its because i got in new york, at the most adorable little vintage jewellery shop in chelsea suggested to me by one of my lovely lovely mates, or maybe its simply because i found it, bought it & have been wearing it non stop since (sans baths & sleeping of course) on what i like to think was the most perfect day of my life....ever.
tickets go on sale in a little over four hours & i cant possibly bring myself to sleep until then. there may be a bit of a hiatus for the rest of the week, as ive got loads of things to arrange & plan. no worries though, i have many (non goldfrapp related) posts to come soon.
i just love coming home to little surprises, especially when they are postmarked from london & are sent with thank you notes & goodies of love straight from goldfrapp headquarters;
i got many lovely things but this (of course) is my favourite.
tonight as i was unpacking my 'chloë sevigny for opening ceremony' tote bag & washing off the little bit of liquid eyeliner that remained from this weekend, i couldnt help but think just how oddly perfect this video depicts my weekend & just how crazy it was;
if ever i got the chance to dress up and hang around with crazy characters like róisín murphy ala movie star - it was definitely this weekend.
now im off to get a cup of my favourite plum tea, crawl into bed & fall asleep listening to a bit of felt mountain.
The invitation, which many of us were clutching in a bit of a sweaty panic outside the Hotel Eden, stipulated that the Gucci Resort show would start at 7:30 p.m., the dinner an hour later, and then the Goldfrapp performance that was to follow that at around 10 p.m. Odd, then, that about a dozen editors and fashion fans were pacing, smoking, and gossiping (some of us doing all three at once) outside the hotel, waiting for the promised transport to the venue well after the designated start time. "It's coming," someone who had spoken to someone at the event said, adding that even though it was 8 p.m., no one was at the venue yet. "But don't worry. Rome is late, always." Indeed, the show started more than an hour behind its scheduled time and Goldfrapp made its debut around midnight.
earlier this week i received not only the obvious e-invitation reminder of gucci's first worldwide webcasted fashion show in my inbox, but also a little insider note with the hint that my favourite band might be playing the after party. (imagine my excitement) i waited, almost patiently, until today to make this post, because just today were the rumours put to rest & the photos surfaced.
chic hotels, gorgeous clothes, an audience of fabulous editors & designers, a lovely intimate dinner & an after party with models "wolf whistling and dancing" to alison goldfrapp et band up on stage? is there really any better way of concocting the perfect fashion show?
ah, if only it would have been lanvin or viktor & rolf instead...
usually when the clock reads six am, its my cue that i have once again stayed up way too late & must force myself to get some rest. but this morning six am was my cue to actually wake up. for work. & i thought i would make a short post while im finishing up my cup of coffee & before i rush out the door to share with you this little video i found on the fashion spot a few nights ago.
i really cant get enough of glastonbury, can i? it also doesnt hurt that grimmy is so cute, & theres a cameo by not only alexa but pixie geldof (that bit was quite hilarous) & annie mac as well.
one • goldfrapp : train • as its been added back to the setlist for their new tour, i am officially reobsessed - again. just as much as i am with the live recording from glastonbury this past weekend (i told you my mates would bring back gifts) its been the very first song i scroll to on my ipod.
two • the knife : forest families • the perfect accompaniment to late night drives. they are simply amazing.
three • tricky : aftermath • i love tricky & i could listen to this song over & over & over again.
four • the kills : getting down • quite possibly my favourite off the album. you cant help but dance & sing along.
five • jefferson airplane : triad • absolutey gorgeous. her voice is perfection. the ultimate summer anthem. makes me want to lounge in the grass, barefoot, wearing a vintage 70s floral maxi dress.
seven • goldfrapp : koko • supernature as a whole (to me) is the perfect summer soundtrack, it was definitely mine last year & has once again risen to the title. & i had forgotten just how much i loved this song & ive just added it back to my daily rotation of goldfrapp tunes.
- i must admit, it was a bit difficult for me to not choose all seven goldfrapp songs. i think i have almost come to realize how much i really do listen to alison & will...its like 24/7, i swear-
"The previous Sunday, her and a bunch of London-based friends had awoken to a gloriously unreasonable February day and disappeared to Brighton where they sat on the beach, drinking champagne."
