quite fitting that my 300th post would fall on my best blogging mate's birthday, would include both lissy & chloë, each a top girl crush of ours & also that the post encompass something so uniquely & individually me - red hair.
taken from chloë sevigny's new limited edition, hardcover artbook, Reds, which showcases her latest collection this fall for opening ceremony; the above images were shot on location at david armstrong's sprawling bed-stuy townhouse, with only redheaded friends of chloë's acting as the models. also included in the book are submissions of original artwork from artists near & dear to chloë's heart. & features a favourite of mine, aurel schmidt.
'The book began with one simple idea: red hair. Chloë felt redheads were the perfect models for her line of grey tweeds, animal print jacquards, Fair Isle knits, subtle dark plaids, pink flannels, and bright red wools. Gingers also have a long and rich history in England, a major inspiration for the Fall/Winter line. From Chloë's upbringing in Connecticut and her father's New England style of tweeds and Bass Weejuns, to the aggressive style of 70s and 80s punk and skinhead subculture that eventually trickled down to 90s St. Mark's Place, the British-New England connection is featured prominently in the Fall collection.'
definitely adding this to my coffee table/art book collection as well as adding lissy's peach buttondown & that fuzzy leopard cardi to my ever growing fall wishlist. only chloë could make being a redhead look this cool...
for my one & only. my UK soulmate. my chloë-sevigny-jen-brill-lesley-arfin-messy-potted-plant-balloon-selby-shot-maccaroon-fox & fawn-fresh-flower-adoring stevie.
so, turn this up, dance around like mad & take an extra sip of bubbly for me. i'm there in spirit.
& here, all the way across the ocean dancing & sipping myself!
i'm up on less than three hours sleep, throwing outfits together, putting film in my just found thrifted film camera, making shopping lists, mapquesting & updating the ipod with my own copy of the blogger summer playlist.
i'm going on a roadtrip tomorrow & in the midst of getting ready i 'happened' upon lissy trullie's brand new video for their cover of hot chip's ready for the floor.
& i thought i kindof had to repost it.
also, recreating this tomorrow morning after a typical but vegetarian diner breakfast;
the timing couldnt be more perfect. happy weekend everyone!
what is summer without music? without that special soundtrack you pass on & play with friends at those last minute thrown together dinner parties on smokey rooftops? & on the beach while dancing into a polaroid lens?
since i'm terribly late in mentioning 10.17's second birthday, i got together my own group of best mates, who also all happen to be bloggers themselves, to help me put together that ultimate summer playlist as a sortof 'thank you for reading' party favour.
so, here are, handpicked, three of each of our favourite/most played/most loved tracks thus far this summer;
spent a cloudy afternoon outside in the grass drinking diet coke with a battered paperback & inside pinning new things to my wall while lissy played on repeat.
to waste away a lazy weekend afternoon with - a few videos that are inspiring me at the moment;
the epitome of new york cool - lissy trullie & chrissie miller talk about the line of clothes we all wish we could run around & get dirty in the entire rest of summer - sophomore. i'm still waiting on a package from them...
the trailer for kt auleta's new film project - runaround. images of isabelle mcnally riding bicycles in denim cutoffs & lounging on rooftops with cigarettes & friends is the picture perfect image of summertime.
the 'best getting ready song' put to some lovely, lustworthy film clips & images of lissy + the band. anyone else want to completely raid her closet now? that blue blazer? i am in love.
let's all just head to the beach & dance drunkenly into video cameras, yeah? because that is precisely what i want to do after watching this. download the song too, even if you're forced only to recreate it in your garden with a sprinkler.
elly talks brighton & cameos while downing a beer. makes me crave all the behind the scenes madness of summer festivals.
love the blue on blue, chambray & denim, sans mascara look. not to mention this is one of my top played tracks of the moment.
my favourite swede nike getting ready for a day at the beach. need i say more? besides the fact that i really really want those snake skin boots of hers. & her tight highwaisted shorts, & her legs...
on friday, i found this little parcel stuffed away in my post box. & thanks to a lovely mate of mine from overseas i now have, despite abroad credit card problems, the la roux album + a little bit of foreign lissy too. i'm obviously thrilled to pieces.
me sans mascara in a topshop crop top & vintage necklaces
happy birthday to the queen of cool, to my fashion icon & to the woman i'd love to stay up all night with; drinking brandy, chain-smoking & dressing up in margiela.
"The previous Sunday, her and a bunch of London-based friends had awoken to a gloriously unreasonable February day and disappeared to Brighton where they sat on the beach, drinking champagne."
