after all this talk of the selby & of room posts, i thought i would add that i too very much enjoy a sneaky peak at someones things; into their bedrooms, their living rooms, in their closets & handbags, etc. what is it about it that we love so much?

and, how absolutely fabulous would it be if we could take a glance into the person's things that we love & admire the most?!

just imagine my excitement when i, quite perfectly, stumbled across these snaps of alison goldfrapp's dressing room tonight - i literally jumped up & down & squealed for five minutes.

& not surprisingly, our makeup bags seem to be filled with many of the same things;
loads of nars, mac & chanel. sigh.

i thought 10.17 needed another good dose of my beloved frapp.
itd been a bit too long.

hotel grace nyc.

just a few of the many reasons why this is where i, along with a best mate, will be staying for our next trip to the city;

theres a mezzanine-level pool with an under-water sound system that sits centre-stage behind a glass wall in the lobby • djs spin every night until 3 • a 24-hour kiosk in the lobby houses such necessities as french vogue, your favourite pack of cigarettes & anything else needed to keep the mini bar in your room chicly stocked • its decor is fabulously minimal & modern • each room has big enough windows perfect to keep undraped for the city lights • the beds lay low to the ground on leather platforms - a look i just love • you can have an in room massage any time of the night • its in the center of midtown

oh, & it was also the hotel of choice for roisin murphy, who stayed here the last time she was in town for a certain show at mansion i attended last month.

as if that alone wasnt enough...

the clock read eleven.

already, she was late but as always was very good at making an entrance. at the vanity she sat, only to touch up the makeup she’d slept in from the night before. her eyes now intensely sooted & dark. she shook her hair out of the messy bun it had been in since she couldnt remember when. leaving it as it was. it was better that way she thought. she slipped into her favourite black lace la perla set & with a vintage perfume bottle of her mothers she had refilled with tom ford’s black orchid, lightly spritzed herself. it was her signature. quickly she scurried about the room looking for the dress, finding her burberry studded heels & alexander wang beanie first. she tore through the ever growing pile of clothes that lay by her dresser finding the dress at the very bottom, next to a stack of french magazines she still needed to read. she had only worn the dress once & with an old cardigan, one lazy saturday spent doing nothing. she was slightly in love with it & this would be its first outing. she hurried into her heels & threw on the beanie making sure to only slightly cover that messy hair. it too was her signature. out she walked onto the street; cigarettes, her 2.55 & a latch key in hand, she lit one & blew smoke into the cold city air. she was off to parties filled with photographers who had silly infamous websites. off to snuggle in close with mates sat at velvet booths, drinking one too many vodkas to beats of ibiza djs. off to dance the night away & stumble sleepily back into her apartment at dawn & fall asleep atop white sheets. waking up, eyes sootier than before, still wearing the dress of an it girl.

i am a vegetarian.

i collect gigantically oversized art & photography books.

my favourite smells are bookshops, cold winter air & cigarette smoke. preferably mixed together.

i absolutely adore cats; although id love to have a fluffy white bird & keep it in a gorgeous antique cage.

i must have at least one cup of tea a day.

i love hardwood floors & old radiators.
