tonight was lovely though; bubble bath, with gardenia candles burning & a bit of white wine, i sat reading a little book of slyvia plath poetry, that arrived yesterday via surprise parcel from a deer mate of mine.
wednesday afternoon was spent with mum in another rainy & wet downtown. for a quick lunch we stopped by my favourite little coffee shop where, while i indulged in a soy latte & waited for my homemade in house black bean burger to arrive, picked up the latest copy of nytimes style magazine where i saw (surprisingly for the first time) the fall campaign for jil sander featuring a lovely lara stone. i think i gasped out loud a little. the simplicity is striking. she is absolutely gorgeous; my favourite model this entire year.

ive finally decided, after many requests, to get over my unnatural bloggers fear & start doing outfit posts quite regularly for you lot. because after all, why else would we be so addicted to all these fabulous blogs if we couldnt see what the authors behind them are wearing out & about on the street everyday? its so much cooler to think that the combination youre wearing was inspired by a scandinavian it girl other than some over publicized celebrity.
& as much as i loved being out in the rain today it really doesnt lend itself very well to impromptu photoshoots behind the starbucks next to my favourite little restaurant downtown. blurry pictures = i might take a few up close shots a bit later on. if you wish.
i was planning on spending my thursday night working on new posts but instead have found myself up at 3am & back on ticketmaster purchasing even more goldfrapp tickets.
thanks to a frapp insider, i was informed that radio city music hall's orchestra pit section (read : best seats available) had mysteriously gone on sale just yesterday.
so i nabbed a pair for me & my mate.
four rows from the stage. dead center. aisle seats.
the last two weeks have been hectic. what with summer courses ending (research papers) & work (eleven hour days) its hardly left me anytime for my nightly ritual inspirational internet & blog browsing. so, the second installment of 'sunday inspiration' is coming to you a week late but hopefully no less inspiring. enjoy.
since its arrival in my post box almost three weeks ago, i really havent been able to think about much else other than the impending cooler months & of dressing up in that perfect nonchalant way modeled in this season's urban outfitters catalogue by three girls who make a frequent appearance in my inspiration folder;
"Wang has also decided to release a diffusion line of t-shirts and tank tops, simply to be named T by Alexander Wang. As he pointed out to WWD, “I realized there were no T-shirts that spoke to my aesthetic… You have those L.A. brands and then you have the $200, $300 shirts from The Row and Rick Owens.”
Set to consist mainly of basic tank tops and t-shirts, the line is sure to easily be able to slide right into rotation with his signature off-duty model-inspired aesthetic.
The line thus far is to consist of 12 different styles, with a price range of $20-50, in a variety of colors and cuts.
Wang told WWD about the line, “Necklines are stretched and armholes are strategically lowered so that it looks worn in… It’s like sleeping in a T-shirt and then wearing it the next day. It’s not this crisp little T out of the dryer. It’s draped and kind of wilted.”
can you say yes, please?! could you spoil us anymore, alex? im buying every one.

if she looks strangely familiar, as if you just passed by her the other day on the street coming back from picking up fresh flowers at the market, dont fret - theres a million & one places im sure youve seen her; cobrasnake, nylon, various blogs & now in the newest (& amazing) urban outfitters early autumn catalogue, but more on that later...
early this rainy sunday morning, as i sit listening to a musical mix of serge gainsbourg, françois hardy, & tricky, flipping through various fashion sites & blogs - saving millions of images to various folders & full of inspiration i get the idea for a new regular post here on 10.17, which will be entitled simply enough - 'sunday inspiration', in which, every sunday, i will showcase my fashion favourites & inspiring photographs ive found throughout the previous week. because we all know how fabulous a silly little photograph can make us feel.

this video is coming at a perfect time since it seems, oddly, that ive just recently rekindled my adoration for lykke li yesterday. i was obsessed all through january when her debut album first hit sweden & lately pleasantly surprised to see her splashed all over american magazines for what will be her first US release later this month & tour following in october. another road trip, perhaps? & for my birthday [10.17] how exciting!
of course we all know that lykke has only a slight influence on fashion & its trends. that bun, anyone? so it was inevitable that this new video would be filled with loads of inspiration & of the moment trends;

fall shopping should come easy this year...
can i also add just how much im loving the set & art design? that rod iron bed? the minimalistic chic bedroom with its white sheets? & the overall hazy atmosphere?
